I’m Derek LaCrone. I write The Outlier Brief — a weekly publication on the three forces I think will separate the next decade’s outliers from everyone else: leadership, AI, and longevity. They’re the three things that compound. Everything else is noise.

I’ve published a book. I ship a daily journal product. And for the better part of a decade I’ve been quietly consulting on the inside of organizations most people only read about — tech startups, universities (UC Davis), media organizations, financial firms, consumer brands, and 140+ small and regional businesses across the country. The work is the same regardless of the logo: sharpen the sales engine, build the leadership system, ship the AI workflows that the team will actually use on Monday morning.

Here’s what I believe. The next decade will not belong to the smartest. It will belong to the ones who compound. Compounding takes three things: a body that lasts, a mind that learns faster than the market does, and a team that doesn’t need to be managed.
